Great news! I’ve done a side job for money and managed to earn enough to attend the local Indie Author Publishing Conference and Pitchapalooza. I’m going to be taking “Classical Plunder” with me and learning how to pitch it to literary agents and publishers. Here is the website all about it. http://www.changinghands.com/indieauthor I am extremely excited about being able to attend this conference. I’ve been to the Young Adult Writing Conferences put on by Changing Hands in previous years and have come out with great information. So excited! Oh, and at the Pitchapalooza portion, one person will be randomly pitched to be introduced to a literary agent! I’m crossing my fingers and hoping. Even if I don’t win I’m hoping to come out with some good advice on how to get my book published and to have a better understanding of the process. Oh, and the conference is tomorrow. (Have I mentioned I’m excited? Because I am). Wish me luck!
“CLASSICAL PLUNDER” IS DONE!!!!!!!!
Well…. not done done. I’ve been editing it while writing but the story is now complete at 49,250 words. That word length is amazing to me because my other story “Court of Miracles” started out being 150,000 and I had to cut down. I worked on getting this one faster pace. Right now I’m working with a couple of wonderful readers who have volunteered to help. How quickly it will be ready to pitch depends on the quickness of my readers. (Who I am beyond thankful for!!!). While I’m waiting for notes back from the readers I’m starting to write a query. I hate writing queries so I figure it would be a good idea to go through a bunch before I am ready to send them out. I am extremely proud of this story and I can’t wait to share it.
I know it’s been a long time since I posted. Many things have happened. My health has gone up and down. Still dealing with that. I’ve been to a number of free writing workshops locally and some paid ones. At the Phoenix Comicon I got to read part of “Classical Plunder” out loud to a panel of published authors and they liked it! They suggested two changes which I made. The book has required a lot of research so it took a while. Another fun thing that happened is I got to be a volunteer musician for Amanda Palmer and The Grand Theft orchestra! That was amazing. If she invites local musicians for her next tour I will happily sign up again.
I have decided to pause on art shows right now due to the health concerns. I’m still available to make ceramic art if you contact me. Pretty much anything you would like I can make. Send me a message to firstname.lastname@example.org about what you would like, how big, indoor or outdoor, and how much you would like to spend. From there we negotiate. Before you pay I send you a picture of what I made and you decide if you want it.
The stop motion project has been going slowly. My dad is also working on the project and he has been out of town a lot. I’ve been working full time and taking care of my daughter (She’s 3 now and adorable!) We are currently still making the armatures and there are a lot of characters. I am learning a lot of new skills as we go.
“The Court of Miracles” has been shelved for right now. I stopped shopping for an agent for it when I decided I really needed to put my focus on writing “Classical Plunder”. I would love to relook at the project at a later date and continue the series. I have the whole plot line planned out for several books and know that the story could go even further than that. The trouble is that I haven’t found a home for it. I’ve been to a few writing conferences since I’ve written it and think that I might even turn it into a series of graphic novels. There are so many possibilities for the story but for right now the project is on hold. It is my hope that if I can get an agent “Classical Plunder” they will want to take on that story as well.
It’s been a busy and eventful couple of months. I hope to be more communicative on my site in the next few months as I get “CLASSICAL PLUNDER” ready. Hope all is well with everyone.
So once a month, on the 2nd Friday of each month, Mesa has an art walk. However, their art walk is different from other ones you might have seen. Each month has a theme and this month it’s Science Fiction. They are having a Steampunk Street and they are having a Zombie Walk. As a former Miss Pathogenic of the Zombie Beauty Pageant this is extremely exciting to me. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I GET TO SELL MY ART THE EVENT!!! That’s right I’m in another art show. I have two weeks to get everything together. This won’t be easy because it’s a busy month with my job but I am so looking forward to this event.
So if you would like to come and see me I will be at my booth (Odd Art) somewhere on Main between Center and Country Club. This is occurring on May 11th and it runs from 6pm to 10pm. More information can be found on their website http://2ndfridaynightout.com/ or on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/395715527106207/.
In other news I am still looking for a home for my completed novel, ” The Court of Miracles”. I’ve been very selective on who I send queries to, researching each person ahead of time, so the process has been a bit slow. I really do believe in the novel and am looking forward to finding the right person to help me get it published.
In the meantime I am working on writing my new novel, “Classical Plunder”. This book is completely different from “The Court of Miracles”. I really can’t wait to start talking about this new one but I think I should until it’s closer to being completed.
I have finally created a deviant art page. My best friend has been trying to get me to join for years. I am slowly adding pictures of my sculptures as well as photography I have taken over the years. My sculptures are also here on www.theaudreywright.com but deviant art is the only place currently to see my photography. If you are interested then head over to http://oddjester.deviantart.com/. Feel free to add me if you have an account.
Well I have about a month to go before things slow down at my job. Next month I get to start working on the stop motion animation project for the Phonogram Zoo. I am extremely excited about this. I will post pictures of the creatures we create.
It’s a busy life. I hope all of you are well. Maybe I’ll see you in Mesa!
I'm in an art show!!
I submitted my ceramic sculptures and my photography to a local art show and was accepted! So I’m going to be working hard to get new pieces made. That means I’ll be adding pictures of them soon. I’m also hoping to add some of my photography on the site as well!! I am so excited!! If you live in Arizona come and see me! Information is in the picture above.
I am currently querying my novel The Court of Miracles.
I am working on my next novel with the working title Classical Plunder. I am loving this story and all of the characters in it. It’s moving faster because the story will be much shorter than my previous novel that I am querying. However, it also has no epic fire dance battles. Those take a good amount of words to describe.
I’m making excellent progress on my goals right now. I’ve been updating my tumblr and just updated my 43 things account. Links to both on the side. You may notice that I have no twitter or facebook link. I do have both but they are protected. This is due to the nature of the job I have that pays my bills. If you want to add me on either I’m not hard to find. Just message me and I’ll add you on.
Anyway. I’m looking forward to the show next month and I can’t wait to show you what I’m working on!
Wish me luck!
I recently got the chance to attend a YA writing workshop in my hometown. It was wonderful! I attended classes with real published authors and learned tips on how to improve my writing. The workshop inspired me to finally finish the last edit of my novel The Court of Miracles. I am happy to say it is finally and completely done. I am extremely proud of it. I will be polishing up my query letter and sending it out to agents. I’m also moving on to my next writing project, Classical Plunder.
During all this I am going to be working on some art work as well for an art show coming up in the next few months. I have about a month to complete some pieces to submit for approval. I may also submit some of my photography. Wish me luck!
My stop motion project is on hold but it will become a full time activity this summer.
I have updated many of the pages on the site. I hope you enjoy them. Feel free to comment or to contact me. Thank you for visiting!
It’s been awhile since I updated this. I didn’t get to go to Litday sadly. I did get to take a stop motion animation class from a personal hero of mine in New York City. I have pictures up of my armatures. Sadly I didn’t get to finish my film. Hopefully I will be able to set up a space to work on stop motion animation. My dad and I will be using the skills we learned this summer to work on videos for my mother’s reading program.
I realize now that I committed the sin of querying for The Court Of Miracles too soon. I wrote a good book and I edited it and edited it, but it still had work to do on it. I’m working on it again. I am currently not sending out queries on it until I am positive that it is something that no agent would pass up.
I am getting my art room to set up so hopefully soon I should have new art work on display here.
Almost to a stopping point on my research for Classical Plunder. I should be onto the first draft soon.
I was taking pictures like mad up until my cameras sad demise. I’m contemplating finding my best pictures to display online…what do you think?
Life is overly busy as always but through it all I’m reaching for my dreams.
“Dear Sir or Madam will you read my book?
It took me years to write, will you take a look?”
My novel, THE COURT OF MIRACLES, is done. It has been done for awhile now. It’s edited and shiny. I will probably look back and edit it a bit more off and on because that is just what I do, but it is seriously done. I’m now sending out query letters at an extremely slow pace. This is mostly due to me reading up everyone I query before I query them. All artists of song lyrics are now in some way contacted. Those who I could never find anyway to get in contact with I have just removed. I am really proud of this book. Now I just need to find an agent who will believe in it and believe in me.
I’m currently researching for a new book. I had gone back and forth over whether or not to start the book which follows THE COURT OF MIRACLES or to go on to one of my other ideas. That question was brought forth at one of the local writing conferences and based on the answer I got, I’m moving on to the next book. I have a bit more research to do before I can really start the draft but I’m prewriting, planning, and meeting my characters. It has a temporary working title of “Classical Plunder”. Wish me luck!
Me mum’s class is done so I have put her pages on private. They may reappear in the future. If for some odd reason you need to look at it you still can by going to www.theaudreywright.com/onlineclass It’s still there it’s just not on my menu anymore.
My job has taken a lot of my spare time lately so I haven’t made as much progress on my art as I wish. However, there is an art show coming up in a few months. I’m hoping to get some new pieces together for it. I’ll upload the pics before the show.
This summer I’m going to be continuing to help on the claymation project. I’m going to be making more characters throughout the year and then we will film all the action this summer.
Also coming this summer……hopefully a trip to LeakyCon and LitDay! Here’s hoping I can get the money together for the trip .
Made a new blog. Link over there somewhere.
I will post more when there is more to tell.
Until then I bid you all a fond farewell.
My mom has an online class that she has to make a pretend online class for. So we are using a corner of my website to house her imaginary class. So the link “Mom’s Class” and Week 1- 12 has nothing to do with my projects. However, if you are from Walden University that is the link you want to be heading to. If you are here to look at the projects of Audrey Wright then any link except “Mom’s Class” and Week 1-12 belong to me.
Sorry for the confusion.
